Gucci by Frida Giannini SS 2007 Black Suede Race Bamboo Tassel Top Handle Bag

A Gucci Race top-handle bag from Spring/Summer 2007 under Frida Giannini, combining soft black suede with vivid red and purple patent leather, industrial silver-tone hardware and dramatically oversized bamboo-trimmed tassels.

Cut in a wide, softly structured silhouette, the bag features glossy red patent leather handles and a reinforced top frame secured with exposed metal plates and rivets. Purple patent piping curves across the suede body, framing sculptural silver-tone panels at the front, back and sides. The hardware gives the bag its unmistakable Race character—somewhere between vintage luggage and the bodywork of a very glamorous car.

Long black suede tassels fall from either side, finished with polished bamboo beads and silver-tone fittings. Frida looked at a practical black handbag and added patent leather, metal armour and tassels large enough to have their own entrance.

Inside, the bag is lined in richly patterned multicolour paisley-floral textile and fitted with a zipped pocket. The original Gucci Made in Italy leather label and style reference 177092 002122 remain present. Accompanied by its original Gucci product tag and care booklets.

The bag presents very well overall and retains its distinctive silhouette, saturated leather accents and statement detailing, with visible wear consistent with age and previous use.
