A pair of Christian Dior mules from John Galliano’s Fall/Winter 2003 Koi collection, combining luminous jade-green printed silk satin with vivid pink python and an almost unreasonable quantity of gold-tone eyelets.

The open-toe silhouette is built on a substantial platform with tall, curved stiletto heels, both wrapped in the same aquatic satin print. Pink python straps sweep across the foot and secure with miniature gold-tone Dior buckles, while sculptural fringed rosettes explode across the toes in layers of python, contrasting leather and metal eyelets. Somewhere between ornamental koi, sea creature and very expensive chaos. Pure Galliano.

The placement print moves across the platforms and heels in overlapping scales, fins and flashes of yellow, cream and black against the saturated green ground. Hot-pink python footbeds stamped with oversized Dior branding continue the colour clash from every angle.

Made in Italy and tagged size EU 36½, the pair retains both original fringed embellishments, Dior-engraved buckles and branded leather outsoles.

The mules present beautifully overall and remain structurally sound, with signs of wear consistent with age and previous use.
