Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Pre-Fall 2016 Black Leather Serpent Pearl Heel Mules

A pair of Chanel mules from Karl Lagerfeld’s Paris-Rome Métiers d’Art Pre-Fall 2016 collection, crafted in black leather with sharply pointed grosgrain toes and sculptural serpent-and-pearl heels.

The front is deliberately restrained: a clean slip-on silhouette with smooth leather uppers and tonal ribbed fabric sharpening the elongated toe. Turn them around and the entire mood changes. Each slender heel is wrapped by a silver-tone serpent, coiled beneath an oversized faux pearl finished with the interlocking CC logo. The front behaves. The heel absolutely does not.

The snake is intricately worked with engraved scales, a defined head and a curling tail that winds around the narrow black heel. The pearl sits directly beneath the heel cup like a piece of costume jewellery built into the shoe—ornate, slightly surreal and very Lagerfeld-era Chanel.

Made in Italy and tagged size 35½ C, the pair retains its original Chanel-branded leather insoles, sculptural heel components and interlocking CC pearls.

The mules present beautifully overall and remain structurally sound, with light signs of wear consistent with age and previous use.
